How do I reserve a book or recall a book that I need?

Placing of Holds (reserving a book)

  • When a normal hold is placed on a book for another user, the current user may keep the book until the due date, unless in case of urgency.
  • Books will be held on the hold shelf for two weeks.
  • The hold shelf have to be cleared daily of the expired holds to avoid inconvenience to the library users as the catalogue will be indicating that the book is available.
  • Clients may reserve information resources that have been taken out by other clients, in which case the Library will place such information resources on hold.
  • Information resources placed on hold shall not be renewed after the initial loan period and shall be returned to the Library for use by the next client after the due date.

Recalling of books

  • The Library shall have the right to recall information resources that are out on loan before the due date, depending on their demand and needed for short loans services.
  • A hold will be placed on the information resource whilst the borrower is contacted and be requested to return it without delay.
  • Depending on the urgency of the request, three notices shall be sent after every two (2) days after the due date.
  • A penalty charge shall be imposed if the borrower does not return the information resources after the three notices, and without reasonable explanation.
