Open Educational Resources at the University of the Free State

Today we had Ms Jeannet Molopyane, Deputy Director of Teaching and Learning in the Library and Information Services, tell us about their initiative in collaboration with the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) to create an OER platform for the University. After testing other platforms, the Digital Scholarship Centre (DSC) was able to provide space on the figshare platform, currently being set up as the University's data repository. With figshare's developments in accommodating institutional repositories for research output as well as data, and examples of other institutions using figshare for their OERs exclusively, everyone agreed this was our solution.
