A word about Trusted Organisations in ORCID

Trust is very important for ORCID. Trusted organisations is ORCID's way to let you grant certain permissions (one or more) to organisations like your employer or publishers. These permissions will allow them to:

  • get your ORCID iD to store and use in their systems and workflows, e.g. a publisher can use your iD for validated authentication as author/reviewer, display your iD on their webpages and in PDFs (making your work more discoverable), streamline their workflows to save you time, and have access to accurate information;
  • read your limited access information, as set by you in your visibility settings;
  • add or update your research activities, e.g. adding your employer affiliation, funding information, research output via the UFS RIMS system;
  • add or update biographical information, e.g. names you were also known as (excluding your biography) - trusted organisations can not edit or delete items added by other trusted parties or you.

You can grant permission for a long period by giving access until you revoke it, or only for a short period. You can revoke permission at any time by going to the Trusted organizations section of you account. Once permission has been revoked, you will need to grant them permission again if you change your mind.
