ORCID iD is an author identifier and gives you a reliable, unambiguous and permanent way to connect your name(s) with your work throughout your research career. This includes publications, grants, education, employment, biographical information and more. It helps:

  • distinguish you from other authors with identical or similar names;
  • link together your work throughout your career;
  • to make it easy for others to find your research, e.g. potential collaborators, prospective employers, funders, conference organisers and publishers; and
  • to ensure that all your work is clearly attributed to you.
