What is Referencing ?

Referencing is citing (acknowledging) the sources of information (books, journals, web sites etc.) you have used in your assignment. It is essential that all references have sufficient information so that the reader can locate the original source. It is necessary to include thorough and accurate information on all sources of quotes, research, images, opinions etc. (in fact everything that is not your own work) in the body of the text and in a reference list at the end of your work. The reference list consists only of sources cited in the body of your assignment and is not the same as a bibliography. ( www.colegsirgar.ac.uk/.../What%20is%20Referencing(1).htm)
